Elephants live for 60 to 70 years in the wild. Suzi, an African bush elephant, lasted only 32 years living in captivity at the Lahore Zoo in Pakistan.

She was brought to the zoo when she was just six years old; her tusks were just beginning to grow. For the next 26 years, Suzi lived a life of solitude and pain before finally succumbing to death on May 13, 2017.

When elephant welfare activist Kelly found out about Suzi's tragic death, she wanted to make sure that no other elephant would suffer the same fate. Please sign her Care2 petition demanding that the Pakistan government ban the Lahore Zoo from ever owning another elephant.

The proper care and management of an elephant requires specialized veterinarians, wellness checks, nutritious food, and plenty of exercise. Suzi had none of these things, and the zoo's neglect cut her life in half.

For more than two decades, Suzi was forced to give rides to zoo visitors. The rides stopped six years ago only when she was too sick to give them anymore. She suffered from severe foot pain, but still did not receive proper medical attention.

Suzi was suffering from a high fever and pain in one of her back legs the week before her death. Instead of allowing her to rest and recover, however, the zoo forced her to stand and continue to be on display for visitors.

The Lahore Zoo has already announced that it wants to replace Suzi with another elephant. We cannot let that happen. Sign Kelly's petition now to make sure that another elephant is not condemned to a life of suffering and early death.

Thank you,
